Get to Know Us

REC Create is grounded in the evidence-based principles of Therapeutic Recreation, a discipline focused on reducing barriers to meaningful participation while promoting psychological health, functional independence, and overall well-being.Through targeted interventions, structured leisure education, and inclusive recreation programming, we foster self-regulation, social competence, confidence, and adaptive skills. Our work is guided by collaborative therapeutic relationships and delivered in environments intentionally designed to support each individual’s strengths and developmental needs.

Our Director

Michelle is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) with over 15 years of experience working across diverse settings, communities, and countries. Throughout her career, she has worked with families of children and youth with varying abilities and needs, as well as individuals living with dementia and their care partners. Her approach is grounded in the evidence that meaningful recreation and leisure contribute to improved well-being, engagement, and quality of life.

In addition to her clinical background, she has been trained as a Children’s Yoga Instructor Kidding Around Yoga (KAY), teaching in both community and school care programs. She has also served on a provincial board within the field of Therapeutic Recreation and had the opportunity to present at community, provincial, and federal levels on the importance of living a life rich with meaning and purpose.

Michelle is passionate about helping individuals reach their fullest potential. She  believes recreation and leisure are powerful tools for building confidence, resilience, and connection — and in supporting individuals in achieving their personal goals.

Outside of her professional work, Michelle enjoys a strong cup of coffee,  cooking a tasty meal and spending time outdoors and with her husband, two daughters, and their four-legged pup. Having lived in Singapore for the past two and a half years, she is proud to call this home.
